Abigailisms

All kids have cute things they say that are almost English, here are some of Abigail's:

Noo-nen? = What are you doing? (she asks this quite frequently)
mook = move
hunk-e = excuse me
be-up = pick me up
ee-yoh = here you go
pearful = careful
pe-pull = purple/people

Other funny things:
Do you need to go to the bathroom? 'no, please no!' or 'I don't want it.'
Once, when she saw a cigarette hanging out someone's car window, 'Candle!!'
'This is MY milk. I LOVE it!' while hugging her cup.

Okay, this story you have to picture in your mind because that's when it's really cute. The other day Jake came downstairs with Abigail and she was lying in his arms like a baby, which she rarely lets us do. He whispered to her, 'Close your eyes and pretend like you're asleep.' She did close her eyes and was sucking on her two favorite fingers. Jake came over to me and said, 'Look Mommy, Abigail fell asleep!' 'Oh, she's so cute!' I said. We cooed over her a minute more and then I said, 'Maybe we should lie her down in bed?' Abigail kept her eyes closed and her fingers in her mouth, still pretending like she was asleep, but couldn't help slightly shaking her head from side to side in silent protest. What a good little pretender. :)

Little girls are so fun

I decided to straighten Abigail's hair to see what it would look like. It is SO uneven that if she had straight hair, I'd crop it pretty short! But it looks so cute in pigtails!

Abigail is very much into dress-up these days, especially the jewelry. Here are a few of my recent favorites.

(while I took this one she was saying 'meow, meow.' I'm not sure if she is the cat that ate the bird or if the feather is supposed to be whiskers)

She also got some little girl make-up that she LOVES (chapstick, lip gloss, sparkly lotion and nail polish). Here she is putting the gloss on her 'lips.'

Don't worry, we're placing the emphasis on inner beauty!

December 2008

Click the picture to see December 2008!

Disclaimer: There are a LOT of pictures in this album. A lot of them are of family. There is a fair representation of animals. If you'd rather not see all these, I understand. If you click on the link, you can see all the pictures on one page and just enlarge the ones you want to see!

P.S. Papa and Grams. You somehow managed to evade my copious picture taking this holiday season. There will be payback.

Breakfast

Abigail's favorite meal of the day is breakfast. She loves her cereal. We try to be relatively healthy and get a good grain in her system, but sometimes she gets the sugary ones. Over Christmas at Grandma and Papa's house she had a special treat of donuts a few mornings. At Gramps and Grams' house she had fruity cheerios. Well, I bought some Golden Grahams the other day and we have been eating some of those. Today Abigail asked what they were called and I told her. She repeated me saying, "Oden Gramps." I replied, "Go-ld-en Gra-h-ams." With a nod of her head she repeated, "Oden Gramps" and took another bite.

While Abigail is far from the best at pronunciation for 2 year olds, I think this one can be explained a bit. Here is what I'm thinking: Abigail often called Grams 'Gramps' while we were at their house- she never did seem to get that there was a difference between the two names. So when she hears 'Golden Grahams' maybe she is thinking 'Golden Grams' and hence she says 'Oden Gramps.' I am having a great time trying to imagine what she is thinking as she says this. Gram, you officially have a cereal named after you at our house!

I combed her hair and it curled up like a wave all on it's own.
I also just love this cheesy smile.

November pictures

(click photo to see pictures)

We got an new desktop computer this year for Christmas. We are slowly getting it set up and it is AMAZING. I knew our 5 year old computer was too slow for what we needed to do with it, but I didn't realize how fast our new one would actually be. We are so thankful!! Getting November pictures done was a breeze. I hope to have December up soon!

She's Got Personality

We're beginning to get a glimpse of which kid Abigail will be in school...

The other day Abigail was eating lunch with her friend Ruby at the small table and the two were giggling quite a lot. While this is not unusual, the guilty look in their eyes betrayed them. I quickly found out that Abigail was eating orange peel to make Ruby laugh. I vaguely remember a cousin doing this same thing over Christmas...

Abigail has also turned very shy, as most of you know. Yesterday we went to library story time and there were a lot of children there. Abigail was safe in my lap and was warming up to everything quite nicely. We came to 'Bean Bag Rock' time- where the kids go up and get bean bags to dance with. Abigail got up to get hers. We haven't been in several months, but when we were going before, she would go up to get her bean bags slowly, waiting until she was almost the last kid to get hers. This is not because she is polite, but because she is afraid of getting knocked over.

Well, yesterday she stood up and took a few cautious steps and then looked back to me, still walking. "Watch where you are going Abigail!" Unfortunately, there was another little girl not watching where she was going either. She was backing up to her mother and was going a little faster than Abigail. The two bumped together and Abigail was the one to fall over. I can still remember her leg coming up in the air and the shocked look on her face. It was a gentle fall sideways, one she probably does at least twice a day with no harm done. This time, however, she quickly got up and ran over to my lap, crying-almost wailing, and burying her face in my chest. The poor kid was mortified! She was eventually able to get up and go get her bags, but only with me in tow :).

Here is a picture of Abigail with just-after-bath-hair

No, we don't put anything in it but detangler! Crazy, huh?
